Your Home is Spying on You: A Look at Internet of Things Forensics

    May 2, 2024 at noon

    Via Zoom

More and more homes contain smart devices: Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Nest Thermostat, Smart TVs, Roombas, and more. These devices store all kinds of activities and send that data to the cloud. This CLE explores the types of data available, looks at some cases where that data was used, and discusses the law regarding the collection of this type of data.

Speaker: Tom Plunkett, Managing Director of Digital Forensics & E-Discovery at ArcherHall.

Thomas Plunkett is Managing Director of Digital Forensics & E-Discovery at ArcherHall. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and EnCase Certified Forensic Examiner (EnCE) with over 20 years of experience in digital forensics, cybersecurity and counterintelligence. He holds a Master's degree in Information Systems and is an adjunct professor, teaching cybersecurity and digital forensics topics at the University of San Diego. Mr. Plunkett has led investigations involving data breaches, computer hacking, theft of intellectual property, and foreign intelligence operations. His clients have included all levels of government, law firms, casinos, medical device manufacturers, hospitals, technology companies and celebrities.

This CLE is pending 1 hour of general CLE credit from the Board of Overseers of the Bar.  Attendees will receive the Zoom login credentials one day before the program.
